Assistant Managing Editor

Position Overview: The Assistant Managing Editor will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our editorial team. This individual will work closely with the Managing Editor to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality content while adhering to our editorial standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in journalism, exceptional editorial skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Managing Editor in planning, assigning, and managing editorial content across multiple platforms.
  • Edit and proofread articles, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to style guidelines.
  • Collaborate with writers, reporters, and other team members to develop engaging story ideas and angles.
  • Monitor news developments and industry trends to identify potential topics for coverage.
  • Manage deadlines and ensure that content is delivered on time.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as design and production, to ensure the smooth flow of content production.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of editorial staff.
  • Help enforce editorial standards and ensure that content meets quality and accuracy requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Editor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.
  • 0- 1 year of experience in a similar editorial role.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high editorial standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with content management systems and other digital publishing tools is a plus.
